An American recently obtained an agreement with the city of Fontana to receive compensation of nearly $900,000. And for good reason: Thomas Perez Junior was falsely accused of having killed his missing father while he was alive.

It must be said that the man experienced real torture in August 2018. After the disappearance of his father, aged 71 at the time, he spent 17 hours in interrogation with police officers, report our colleagues at BFMTV.

Pushed to the limit, Thomas Perez Junior ended up confessing to the murder of his father, which he did not commit, before attempting to hang himself with his clothes. Left alone in the interrogation room at first, the American was ultimately hospitalized for 72 hours.

During the hearing, the police did not hesitate to tell him that his father’s body had been found and that they had irrefutable proof of his guilt.

The police learned a little later that Thomas Perez Junior’s father was alive and had not disappeared. The septuagenarian had gone to visit friends, before going to Los Angeles airport where he was waiting for his daughter, reports BFMTV.

Following this traumatic episode, Thomas Perez Junior sued the town of Fontana, where he had been interrogated. He will therefore finally be compensated.
