The Livr’à Vannes 2024 awards: three authors rewarded

The Literary Prize of the City of Vannes was given to Sophie Berger for her work Fog bank (Editions Gallimard). This prize rewards a French novel published between September 2023 and March 2024. Delicate and fair, this first novel by Sophie Berger is a reflection on mourning, and on the nature of the silence which sometimes accompanies it from one generation to the next. . She succeeds Jean-Louis Milesi, 2023 laureate for In the distance, a few horses, two feathers… (City Press).

Four other novels were in competition: The Unknown Portrait by Camille Peretti, Louisiana by Julia Malye, This red perfume by Theresa Révay and Heaven in its fury by Adeline Fleury.

The price “Young adults” was given to Margot Dessenne for her work The Mobilized (Editions Castelmore/Big Bang). Initiated by the City of Vannes in 2018, this prize rewards a French author whose readers are aged 15 to 25. The winner receives a check for €2,000.

The Price of Novel in Breton language was given to Loeiza an Duigou for her work Tan de’i (Éditions Al Liamm), in partnership with the Institut Culturel de Bretagne and Emglev Bro Gwened.

In this fantastic children’s book, two teenagers with the power to transform into animals try to put an end to the felling of trees intended to supply the Tan De’i factory, a matchbox factory. Loeiza an Duigou succeeds Yann-Charlez Kaodal, 2023 winner for Fulenn (Al Liamm).
