Rough evening Sunday May 26, 2024 for residents of a building in the western districts of Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique).

At the rear of this residence located along Boulevard Sarrelouis, an apartment located on the ground floor was the target of an arson attack.

Shots were also fired.

“It was 11 p.m. I had just returned home when I heard three explosions,” describes a neighbor.

The flames attacked the shutters of the apartment, but were quickly extinguished by residents who came with buckets of water.

“I was sleeping, it was the alarm that woke me up,” testifies the tenant of the targeted apartment, who says he does not understand this attack.

“Maybe a joke”

“I have no enemies, I am a rather solitary person. Maybe a joke or a mistake,” says this 36-year-old man.

Witnesses described a group of young people with masked faces, holding a weapon.

The fire was apparently started with gasoline.

Intervening on the spot, the police took shell casings from the ground.

Investigations are ongoing.
