WAR IN UKRAINE – Two bells ringing. First French military instructors will arrive ” shortly “ in Ukraine to train Ukrainian soldiers, who are retreating in the face of Russian offensives, particularly in the Kharkiv region, the commander-in-chief of the army announced on Monday, May 27.

“I welcome France’s initiative to send instructors to Ukraine to train Ukrainian soldiers. I have already signed the documents which will allow the first French instructors to visit our training centers soon and to familiarize themselves with the infrastructures and their staff”General Oleksandr Syrsky wrote on Telegram.

Contacted by AFP, the French Ministry of Defense limited itself to saying that the file was under study, without confirming the sending of instructors.

France kicks into touch

“As already mentioned several times, training on Ukrainian soil is one of the projects discussed since the conference on support for Ukraine convened by the President of the Republic (Emmanuel Macron) on February 26”indicated the ministry. “This track continues to be the subject of work with the Ukrainians”he added.

For his part, during a visit to Madrid, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called on the West to “use all means” to force Russia into peace.

“We must intensify our joint work with our partners to achieve more: security and tangible coercion of Russia to peace by all means”, urged the Ukrainian president. It’s necessary “put pressure not only on Russia, but also on our partners to give us the opportunity to defend ourselves”he added, again demanding air defense systems to be able to intercept the more than 3,000 guided aerial bombs launched by Russia on his country each month.
