With Red Rocket in 2021, he paints the portrait of an ex-porn star who returns to Texas, and again obtains the Jury Prize, as well as the critics’ prize at the Deauville Festival, in addition to being selected in official competition at the Cannes Film Festival. The theme of sex is another of the major components of Sean Baker’s cinema.

In 2024, his film Anora explores this theme once again by following the love story between a New York prostitute and the son of a Russian oligarch.
