No respite for the flame! Present in Indre and in Châteauroux on Monday, here she is parading in Maine-et-Loire this Tuesday, May 28, before the Olympic cauldron is lit with its sacred fire in Angers in the early evening (7:20 p.m.).

By then, 89 bearers will have passed the torch to carry the flame throughout the department.

A nod to the French “ping”

The kick-off will be given at 8:30 a.m. this Tuesday Baugé-en-Anjou (arrival at 9:10 a.m.) for a loop starting from the René-d’Anjou cultural center and heading to the Château de Montsoreau, via the Hôtel-Dieu and Apothecary, the Châteaucoin college and the church. HAS Montsoreau (9:25 a.m.-9:45 a.m.), the relay will continue in the interior courtyard of the medieval castle, dating from the Renaissance and converted into a contemporary art museum.

Then, head for the commune of Lion-d’Angers (10:55 a.m.-11:45 a.m.), for a route designed between the sports complex and the local racecourse. After which, at Chaudefonds-sur-Layon (12:30 p.m.-12:55 p.m.), the flame and its bearers will walk through the vineyards of the hills of Layon, a renowned sweet white wine, then will finish their progression passing in front of the town hall and the village church.

HAS Romagna (3:05 p.m.-4 p.m.), the La Stella sports complex will be visited by the torch relay. The bastion club of French men’s “ping” for twenty years will be particularly honored thanks to a collective relay of table tennis players led by Patrick Chila. A UFO club in a town of 1,500 inhabitants, without a major town within a 10 km radius…

HAS Saint-Florent-le-Vieil (4:05 p.m. – 4:25 p.m.), the relay will travel from Maison Julien Gracq to the abbey church overlooking Mont-Glonne.

The Olympic cauldron on fire in Angers

Finally, Angers (6:10 p.m.-7:20 p.m.) will host the end of the day festivities. The start will be given from the Josette and Roger Mikulak sports park. The procession will run along Balzac Park, Boulevard du Bon Pasteur between the city center and Maine.

Then the flame will jump the Maine for a stroll in the old town. Its race will end in front of the Jean-Lurçat museum. It’s not far away, on the place la Rochefoucauld, boulevard d’Arago, where the final ceremony will take place. The celebration site, free and accessible to all, will open from 3:30 p.m. A DJ, various entertainment, a giant screen will allow you to wait while waiting for the queen of the evening.
