As revealed Progressthe French actor Kad Merad was heard on Friday May 24 at the Chalon-sur-Saône court. This happened within the framework of a real estate fraud case of which he believes he is a victim with his wife, Julia Vignali. The facts would have occurred between September 2022 and summer 2023.

At the time, the couple acquired a farm in Mary (Saône-et-Loire), a small village in which he got married at the end of 2022. This second home, in the Saône-et-Loire countryside, is located in the heart of the mining basin. The actor, famous for his films like “Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis”, believes he suffered a damage of 1.5 million euros. He also demands 5,000 euros for moral damage.

Two companies targeted

With his wife, they became civil parties and filed a complaint against two companies : a real estate agency located in the town of Montceau-les-Mines (Saône-et-Loire) and an agency specializing in heritage restoration based in Paris. The defendants being absent and certain doubts remaining about the accuracy of a first name and several addresses, the Chalon court declared itself not seized of the case.

According to Le Progrès, the hearing lasted only only about fifteen minutes. To avoid any risk of procedural defects, the president of the court announced that the hearing would be postponed until January 10, 2025.
