The eighth weekend of the 2024 Formula 1 season continues this afternoon in Monaco! Before moving on to qualifying, the teams will make final adjustments to the cars. Follow free practice 3 with us live!

Ferrari is there!

Heading into Monaco, the trend was that Ferrari would be slightly the team to beat, with a small lead over the championship leaders, Red Bull. From the first day of testing, the Italian team largely met these expectations.

Max Verstappen even claimed that Ferrari was “light years away” ! Although this is a bit of an exaggeration, it is clear that the Scuderia have better pace, especially in qualification mode. In Monaco, where overtaking is very difficult, being in the lead in this area clearly increases the chances of victory on Sunday.

Their running pace is also comparable to that of the Austrian team. Charles Leclerc was the best driver in red yesterday, while Carlos Sainz felt he made a mistake in his settings. However, the Spaniard is usually very efficient in the streets of Monaco and is confident of being able to catch up today, especially during EL3 which precedes qualifying.

Complicated start to the weekend for Verstappen

Max Verstappen was very disappointed after a difficult first day in Monaco. The reigning world champion was worried that the edges and bumpy track of the principality would give him a hard time this weekend, and that was confirmed. The Dutchman said the car “did not behave well” and that there was “no clear solution to resolve this problem”.

That said, Verstappen has shown time and time again that even when he is not completely confident with his car, he is still capable of delivering remarkable performances. Let’s move on to the last practice session before qualifying!
