With less than 3 weeks before the elections, suspense is increasing, particularly in Brussels, where the MR has soared in the polls, but Ecolo, the PS and the PTB are also in the fight. Guest of Maxime Binet in the show “Café Sans Filter” this Friday morning, Nabil Boukili, head of the federal list in Brussels for the far-left party, detailed the breaking points of his party for the Belgian capital.

”For Brussels, we have breaking points which stem from the observation that our region is bankrupt. We have a structural deficit of 1.2 billion and it can no longer continue like this, so the first breaking point is to have real refinancing to the tune of 1 billion. We have to fight and a political decision is always the result of a balance of power. What would not be possible is to continue in the current situation and impose austerity on the people of Brussels. In fact, there are two projects that clash in Brussels: the MR project, that of austerity and savings in public services, and the PTB project, that of the refinancing of Brussels,” explains the federal deputy. .

But what about the other parties, and in particular the PS and Ecolo, which are fighting with the liberals and the far-left party in the polls? “The other parties must choose between the locomotive on the right which is the MR and the locomotive on the left which is the PTB. Will they turn to austerity and the MR or to a policy of rupture to meet the needs of the people of Brussels?”

With a new political barometer due to be released this Friday, there is a possibility that the Belgian Labor Party could become the capital’s leading party. And if this is the case, he intends to come with his project for Brussels, defend his points of rupture and try to create a balance of power. But what should we say to those who say that the PTB has never governed? “It’s because the PS and Ecolo always turn to the right instead of turning to the left. Today, we have a credible and costed project that meets the needs of Brussels residents,” assures Nabil Boukili.

Israeli-Palestinian conflict: “The Belgian government is hypocritical”

In his interview, Maxime Binet also addressed the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and in particular the lack of decision regarding the official recognition of the Palestinian state by Belgium, while Spain, Norway and Ireland l ‘did. “I see a lot of hypocrisy within the Belgian government,” says Nabil Boukili. They have been talking about recognizing Palestine for weeks and, today, we realize that they are not taking that path. When is the right time? International law has been in force since 1967 and has never been respected. What is important today is to stop the massacre in Gaza. And for that, we must sanction Israel. I don’t understand that after war crimes and the announcement of a risk of genocide, we see that we have not taken any sanctions and that is hypocritical.”

The far-left federal deputy also deplores Belgium’s “double standards” with regard to the two major conflicts affecting the planet at the moment: the Russian war in Ukraine and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “We have taken 13 packages of sanctions against Russia and 0 against Israel while the Palestinian people are being massacred. This is total hypocrisy!”
