In the summer of 2023, Tottenham chose experienced Australian coach Ante Postecoglou, who had proven himself at Celtic FC. As soon as he arrived, he was able to convince by putting in place an attractive game and obtaining solid results during the first months.

Inconsistent results

However, Spurs could not maintain this good form. Although they fought for a place in the top 4 of the Premier League for a long time, they ultimately failed to secure a ticket to the Champions League. In addition, they did not shine in the national cups. Despite these poor performances, management maintained confidence in Postecoglou. The start of the season, however, was marked by irregular performances, with only 10 points taken out of a possible 21.

The visitors had to finish the match with ten men after Mohammed Kudus received a red card following a VAR intervention for repeated blows. Thanks to this 4-1 victory, Tottenham temporarily climbs to sixth place in the standings.
