The life of a 17-year-old young man was suddenly cut short on Wednesday May 15 in Suffolk (Virginia). An amateur rapper calling himself Rylo Huncho accidentally shot himself in the head while live-streaming a story on Instagram. The footage showed the teen rapping, while handling a handgun equipped with a green laser sight.

The artist, whose real name is Raleigh Freeman III, waves the cannon near his face while dancing. He then points the gun at his head and pulls the trigger, probably thinking the safety is on. But the shot goes off, and the phone filming the scene then falls to the ground. According to the “New York Post”, the unfortunate man died instantly. It appears that he himself inadvertently deactivated the safety while playing with the weapon.

The day after the tragedy, the victim’s cousin launched a fundraiser on GoFundMe. “My aunt recently lost her 17-year-old son (…). He was his only son! She was a single mother but took care of her son as best she could,” we read. The author of the text then mentions a “suicide/accident”, which implies that the thesis of a voluntary death is not completely ruled out. However, it seems highly improbable. “We are trying to understand,” writes Diane Bryant, who had already been able to raise more than $4,500 a week after the tragedy.
