Drunk driving man kills father, seriously injures mother in accident

Dramatic traffic accident in Périgny, in Val-de-Marne, on this Pentecost Sunday. A 56-year-old drunk man, driving his classic car, left the road and his vehicle overturned. His 85-year-old father, who was on board, died, while his 81-year-old mother was taken to hospital in a state of absolute emergency, it has been learned

The 56-year-old had just celebrated his birthday at the restaurant when he suggested to his parents that they take his vintage Jeep for a spin. The driver and his two passengers, from Quincy-sous-Sénart (Essonne), took the Brie-Comte-Robert road. Further on, the motorist hit a curb and his vehicle ended up on its roof, not far from the House of Nature and the Environment.

Emergency services quickly arrived on the scene and found that the father had already died. The mother had probably managed to get out of the vehicle. She suffered from several fractures in particular and was transported to Henri-Mondor hospital in Créteil, specifies a Source close to the investigation.

The driver was slightly injured and taken to Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital. Tests showed that he was under the influence of alcohol. The man was taken into police custody and the investigation was entrusted to the Judicial Accident Handling Service (STJA). The investigation was opened on the charge of “involuntary homicide by the driver of a land motor vehicle aggravated by driving under the influence of alcohol”.
