Environment Day: open days of municipal workshops and free distribution of compost and trees

She is back ! The long-awaited Environment Day will take place at the municipal workshops (PLEASE NOTE: entry is via 750, rue Saint-Jean) on Saturday 1er June, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering free bulk compost, potted trees, paper leaf bags and kitchen waste bags to the population.

New this year, visitors will be able to have a front row seat to the municipal workshops thanks to the open days on the same day. For young heavy truck enthusiasts or adults who are interested in the management of a city, this is the ideal opportunity to come and ask your questions about traffic, maintenance of public roads, the environment, snow removal, machinery, residual materials management and wastewater and drinking water treatment. Don’t miss this unique access!

Self-service bulk compost

People who wish to obtain compost in bulk must come to the site with their own containers and a shovel to take advantage of the self-service offer. For its part, the Public Works Department will fill participants’ trailers using a loader.

Paper bags for dead leaves + kitchen waste bags

The City will take advantage of this activity to distribute paper bags intended for collecting dead leaves. Remember that the use of plastic trash bags is no longer accepted during municipal leaf collections. Kitchen waste bags will also be available.

Distribution of potted trees

Environment Day in Drummondville will also be an opportunity to get your hands on potted trees. This year, the species available in pots are: sugar maple, pear and ginkgo biloba. Quantities are limited, and a reservation is required by completing an online form available at drummondville.ca/event.

This distribution is part of the Tree Policy of the City of Drummondville and aims in particular to increase the canopy throughout the Drummondville territory.

Please note that the activity will be postponed until the following day, Sunday June 2, in the event of heavy rain. To obtain more information about Environment Day in Drummondville, the population is invited to dial 3-1-1.
