The mayor of Paris wishes to rename a place in the capital in the name of Paul Varry, a cyclist killed by a car on Tuesday October 15 in the 8th arrondissement of Paris. This is what France Bleu Paris learned from Patrick Bloche, Anne Hidalgo’s first deputy, on Friday October 18.
No location or date has been communicated by the municipality for the moment, three days after the death of the 27-year-old cyclist, very close to Place de la Madeleine. The Paris town hall will also establish a minute of silence during the next Paris council meeting, scheduled for November 19.
Saturday October 19, several gatherings and tributes will be organized, at the call of the Paris en saddle association of which the victim was a member. In Paris, a rally will take place from 5 p.m., Place de la République. Several dozen gatherings throughout France are also planned, among others:
- in Toulon in front of the town hall at 5:30 p.m.
- in Bayonne in front of the town hall at 5:45 p.m.
- in Poitiers in front of the town hall at 5:45 p.m.
- in Nantes in front of the town hall at 5:45 p.m.
- in Brest in front of the town hall at 5:45 p.m.
- in Nice and Cagnes-sur-Mer in front of the town halls at 5:45 p.m.
