The installation of speed cameras on the roads in our territory is sometimes questionable. Like the one put into service at the end of last month in Froidmont, in the Aisne department, in the Hauts-de-France region.

It is an autonomous radar which angered the drivers trapped by the flash for speeding by the autonomous radar put into service on April 30 on the Nationale 2 crossing the town of Froidmont-Cohartille. Our colleagues from radars-auto.com indicate on this subject that the said device controlling the speed of vehicles is placed at the entrance to this town (and therefore with a speed limit of 50 km/h), in only one direction of the road. circulation, withoutno speed limit sign indicated the maximum required speed at the entrance to this town.

Admissible challenge

While waiting to compensate for this absence of a sign marking the entrance to the urban area, the municipality of Aisne had therefore installed an autonomous radar indicating the speed limit at 50 km/h. Except that the sign in question… placed on the same ground, was covered with vegetation and therefore “invisible” from road users who took this route. And if, since then, the grass hiding the sign indicating the speed limit of 50 km/h has been cut, in the meantime several “bona fide” drivers have been flashed for speeding. The fact remains that as French legislation requires that any speed limit on a road be perfectly visible to users using it, drivers who have been flashed for speeding by this mischievous radar will undoubtedly be able to successfully challenge their fine.
