The first edition of the Volunteer Meetings in Mâcon, on 1er June, promises a day rich in exchanges, demonstrations and opportunities for engagement within social, health and disability associations. Organized by the municipal social action center and the city of Mâcon, the event will take place at the Espace Carnot, Place Saint-Pierre, and in the municipal council room from 10 a.m.

A day with a lively program

On the program, a press conference led by Lionel Prouteau, lecturer in economics at the University of Nantes, on the theme of volunteering. The general public will be welcomed by 26 different associations, each with a stand to exchange ideas and attract new volunteers. Activities will also be offered by certain associations.

The Valentin Haüy association will give a demonstration with guide dogs for the blind, while the Les Jardins solidaires association will come with its planters for practical demonstrations.

“The objective of this day is to introduce these associations to the general public while having a good time. It will be a day that is both festive and constructive,” explains Véronique Lefeuve, deputy mayor in charge of social affairs, the fight against isolation, family services and public health.

For the president of the Valentin Haüy association serving the blind and visually impaired, Madame Mathy, this event is above all an opportunity to attract new volunteers, of whom many associations are sorely lacking. “We hope to find volunteers and make our association known. I am convinced that this day will bear fruit. »
