In France, a child dies every five days within the family and one woman every three days under the blows of his spouse or ex-spouse. Faced with these alarming findings, the Côte-d’Or wants better fight against violence which can lead to drama in families.

In order to better identify and help people who are victims of this malicious behavior, the Department was designated last November to experiment with “fresh start pack” which begins this month.

“Go safely”

The objective is, on the one hand, to make it easier for victims to speak out by allowing them to “find an interlocutor when they decide to speak”, indicated the vice-president of the departmental council, Emmanuel Coint to France Bleu Bourgogne.

The “new start pack” should also, and above all, help victims in the procedures following the report. Many obstacles remain in fact for people who are victims of violence. Within five days, the Department must receive the person concerned in order to “define with them what they need to leave safely“, specified Emmanuel Coint.

Setting up referents

This new system therefore provides a rapid, accessible and coordinated response to victims as well as universal emergency aid.

The association of mayors of Côte-d’Or is also asking to put in place referents in each city to go further and support victims towards mutual aid associations and justice, indicates France Bleu Bourgogne.
