A double event took place at the Jean-Jacques Faurie college in Montcuq on May 17. In the morning, the Montcuq blood donor committee organized with the EFS a collection in the establishment, for the second time. This helps raise awareness among young people of this action which can save lives and encourages them to donate blood themselves once they reach the age of 18. The result was disappointing, with only 30 people sampled, including two new donors.

The same day, as part of the students’ citizenship journey, principal Frédéric Gille and the new CPE Noémie Bailles organized a citizens’ day in which several associations participated.

All classes were involved and, every hour, the students went from room to room to interact with the partners of this operation who intervened entirely on a voluntary basis. The Lézard de la rue association was represented, but also the Restos du coeur, the environmental defense association AVeQ, the PEP 46 (association of public education wards), the Rights Information Center victims of women and families in France. Volunteers from the French Federation of Angry Bikers (FFMC) prepared 5th and 3rd grade students to obtain the school road safety certificate (ASSR).

“The goal is to make students aware of community and civic engagement,” indicated Frédéric Gille, “to encourage them to give their time and make themselves available for the benefit of as many people as possible.”

The next public meeting will take place at the college on June 1 with an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., coupled with a gourmet market organized by the APE from 6 p.m., with a food truck and musical entertainment.

The proceeds will be used to finance a trip and outings in 2025. “We will be able to visit the establishment and its equipment, specifies the principal, and discover the artistic, linguistic and literary projects, as well as the writing workshops, set up by our teachers.
