A suspicious fire devastates two residences in Brossard

Two residences were heavily damaged by a fire of suspicious origin on Thursday night in Brossard.

A little after 2 a.m., emergency services were called by citizens who had just heard the sound of an explosion, followed by a fire, on the grounds of a house on rue Valéry, on the edge of of route 132.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire was already raging with great intensity.

The flames spread to a neighboring residence, which also suffered significant damage.

One of the two houses affected by the flames could be declared a total loss.

A vehicle parked in the driveway of the bungalow was also destroyed by fire.

Authorities are treating the fire as suspicious. An investigation was opened to establish the exact cause.

No one was injured during the events and the two affected families were taken care of by representatives of the Red Cross.

No suspects have yet been arrested in this case.

The damage easily amounts to several hundred thousand dollars.
