The weather conditions this fall are still not improving. This Thursday October 17the Var remains in vigilance orange for the risks of rain-floods and thunderstormsand this until Friday noon, according to Météo France.
The Var is one of the 19 French departments under orange vigilance today.
An increased risk of flooding
Precipitation will affect almost the entire territory from the morning, with the exception of a few areas such as Salernes or Saint-Zacharie.
However, it is into the evening that the storms will persist, requiring the greatest vigilance on the part of residents.
The north-east of the department could be particularly affected, with thunderstorms in the afternoon, increasing the risk of local flooding. Temperatures will vary between 16 and 22°C, while sustained winds are expected, particularly at Saint-Tropez (60 km/h) and Fréjus (55 km/h).
An improvement expected on Friday
The expected accumulations are 70 to 100 mm up to locally 120 to 160 mm, or even occasionally more.
On the coast, the accumulations should overall be a notch lower, but a risk of stationary thunderstorms is present with 60 to 80 mm in a short time.
Improvement expected Friday morning.
