The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune reaffirmed, Wednesday, the State’s constant commitment to defending the children of the national community abroad and their rights, to protecting their interests and to providing optimal conditions for their integration into the process of national recovery and renewal.

In a message addressed to the Algerian people on the occasion of National Emigration Day, marking the 63rd anniversary of the demonstrations of October 17, 1961, the President of the Republic declared: “I bow with piety and deference to the memory of the victims of this sinister day, and I salute the children of Algeria, men and women abroad.

The President of the Republic renewed, on this occasion, “the constant commitment of the State to defend their rights, to protect their interests and to bring together the optimal conditions for their integration into the process of recovery and national renewal, and in the dynamic of Algeria’s transition towards the future, with a new vision, confident in the capacities of the country and its skills and the awareness of its young people and its people of the challenges, convinced of winning the bets and to realize the dreams of our valiant Chouhada in a haughty Algeria, the Algeria of nationalism and dignity, and attached to the principle of law and equity with regard to the issue of memory, which certain extremist circles are trying to falsify or to relegate it to the drawer of oblivion, at a time when the question of memory needs a new breath of courage and integrity to get rid of the complex of the colonial past and turn towards a future where there is no “There is no place for sowers of hatred, among those who remain prisoners of obsolete colonial thinking.”

The celebration of the 63rd anniversary of National Emigration Day (October 17), comes “in commemoration of the struggles of our community abroad which express the rallying of Algerians residing in at the time, at the Glorious Revolution of Liberation” he recalled, adding that this anniversary “remains deeply engraved in our minds, due to the strong symbolism it takes on illustrating the unity and attachment of the people to the achievement of the objectives outlined in the eternal Declaration of November 1st”.
