Météo is extending its vigilance. In its 6 a.m. bulletin this Thursday, the number of departments on orange alert increased from nine to thirteen: , Haute-Loire, Aude, and Hérault thus join , Lozère, l Ardèche, Alpes-Maritimes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Corrèze, Lot, Tarn and Aveyron, already put on alert for this Thursday since Wednesday mid-afternoon. The Loire and Haute-Loire due to the risk of rain and flooding, Aude and Hérault for storms. This alert now also concerns and Aveyron.

The current Cévennes episode is giving rise to significant amounts of rain, mainly on the Ardèche terrain but according to Météo France it is spilling over into the east of Haute-Loire and the south of the Loire. The accumulations of rain will still be significant in places, even if, notes the meteorological forecasting institute, there is an element of uncertainty “on the location of the strongest storms and the heaviest precipitation”, which will undoubtedly require frequent updates of vigilance.

At 5 a.m., on the relief of the Cévennes and Vivarais, “the accumulations reached 200 to 300 mm since the start of the episode, up to occasionally 350/400 mm in the Lozerian Cévennes and 450/500 mm on the Ardèche mountain: 391 mm in Villefort (Lozère), 509 mm in Mayres and 468 mm in Loubaresse (Ardèche) and 235 mm at Mont Aigoual (Gard)”.
