LIBREVILLE (Ecuador) – While numerous information relayed on the web report a seizure of certain pylons and other property of the telecommunications company Airtel Gabon, the sector regulator, the Electronic Communications and Communications Regulatory Authority posts (Arcep) wants to see things clearly.

The president of Arcep, Célestin Kadjidja, had a working session last Friday, May 17 at the start of the day with the Managing Director of Airtel Gabon, Thomas Herbert Gutjahr.

During their discussions, Thomas Herbert Gutjahr gave the regulator his company’s position, while inviting consumers not to panic.

“It is true that there is a legal process and that is normal, because large companies are often faced with these legal procedures. In this trial there was no judgment, so it’s nothing special. It must be said that like everyone else we have observed the proliferation of fake news on the internet, but that concerns Airtelmoney more, but they are two different companies. The lawsuit we have has no impact on users, none of our pylons have been seized,” he indicated.

Furthermore, as part of a long-term development policy, the General Director of Airtel Gabon specified that “we are in a development perspective to do more things in the provision of services, for example by making the internet less expensive, to deploy our services in remote regions of the country, through the universal service program with the ‘Arcep’.
