Two days after the murder of a 16-year-old teenager, who lost his life after receiving stab wounds in Aulnay-sous-Bois (Seine-Saint-Denis) on Friday October 11, the Bobigny prosecutor’s office indicted and imprisoned five minors, learned theAFP Tuesday. Four were placed in pre-trial detention, the fifth is temporarily incarcerated while awaiting his appearance before the judge of freedoms and detention.
A sixth teenager, less involved in the case, was placed under judicial supervision. A judicial investigation was opened for murder by an organized gang, attempted murder by an organized gang and aggravated violence.
Circumstances still unclear
The tragedy occurred Friday evening in front of an elementary school and less than a quarter of an hour’s walk from the Jean-Zay high school, where the victim attended school. On the gate of the establishment, a bouquet of white flowers was hung to pay tribute to him. In this large urban center of 85,000 inhabitants, located northwest of Paris, residents are in shock. Speaking anonymously, the manager of the small establishment selling burgers and tacos in front of which the « petit » was murdered expresses his astonishment to theAFP : “Nothing ever happens here. We are a restaurant where families, students, municipal workers come to eat.”
If the circumstances of the tragedy remain unclear at present, according to a source close to the case, the attack would have found its source in futile motives: a lack of respect and a ” bad “ exchange of glances several months ago. A scenario also favored by the mayor of Aulnay-sous-Bois, Bruno Beschizza, also Les Républicains national secretary in charge of security. “We would apparently be in something completely irrational, not the settling of scores linked to drug trafficking, not gang warfare, but a quarrel of adolescents which escalates and reaches the worst end, death of a young person » assured the city councilor, joined by theAFP.
The victims and the accused know each other and several go to school in the same establishment. In addition to the deceased, two other 16-year-old teenagers were injured during the attack, one with a stab wound to the thigh, the other with punches.
A call for calm
Bruno Beschizza launched on Saturday “a solemn appeal for calm”pour “above all, do not fall into a spiral of revenge or retaliation”.
In recent years, several teenagers have been stabbed to death in Seine-Saint-Denis, often linked to neighborhood rivalries. In January, in Saint-Denis, the two fatal attacks – unrelated but occurring on the same day – of a 14-year-old middle school student and an 18-year-old high school student had pushed the municipality to issue an order prohibiting gatherings to avoid “return matches”.
