Norwegians may well be very concerned at the announcement of this news on the state of health of their Princess Mette-Marit (51 years old). Indeed, on October 11, the Royal Palace revealed the worrying state of health of the latter, since it was revealed that she had had to resume her treatment. As we knew, the Crown Princess has been dealing with chronic lung disease since 2018. The Royal Court announces that adjustments to the Crown Princess’ schedule are to be expected. Cancellations and postponements of its releases will be announced later, if necessary. The treatment is restrictive and may “cause side effects which may have consequences on the official program of the Crown Princess“.

The wife of Crown Prince Haakon has just disrupted her official agenda due to this attack. The royal house explains that “therefore, we find it natural to share this information this time. We will notify you of changes to the official program if necessary.“The eldest son of King Harald V and Queen Sonja is destined to be the next king of Norway, and the brother of Princess Märtha Louise is happily in love and married on August 25, 2001, Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby. young woman, from a modest family and single mother, was obviously a widely commented choice at the time. But the princess was ultimately accepted quite quickly by the royal family. With Haakon of Norway, they became parents of two. children: Princess Ingrid Alexandra, born in 2004, and Prince Sverre Magnus, born in 2005.

Mette-Marit Crown Princess of Norway: what is the illness that affects her?

In this same press release of October 11, the Royal Court of Norway specifies: “Concretely, the disease causes abnormal healing of the tissue located inside the lungs and around the alveoli, as well as the blood vessels of the lungs. These thicken and stiffen. Such scarring is called fibrosis.“If she has always been a support for her husband, Princess Mette-Marit can also count on the future king. She suffers from a pulmonary fibrosis, a chronic disease et progressive which affects the lungs, a rare disease that causes scar tissue to form in the lungs, which unfortunately makes breathing increasingly difficult and can, over time, reduce lung capacity. She has always benefited from the unfailing support of her husband.

It was in 2018 that the mother of Marius Borg Høiby, her first son in turmoil, officially announced the illness with which she must deal on a daily basis, since it has no cure. The princess nevertheless receives treatment in order to best manage her symptoms and try to slow the progression of the disease.

It was that same year that the Norwegian heiress made it known that her ability to carry out her official duties would vary depending on her salary. “Even though such a diagnosis sometimes limits my life, I am happy that the disease was discovered so early. My goal is always to work and participate in the official program as much as possible“, she confided.
