On the occasion of the celebration of National Nigerien Women’s Day (JNFN), Engaged Women donated hygiene products to the national reference center for obstetric fistulas, on Monday May 13, 2024. The donation was received by the deputy director of the center, Colonel Major Oumarou Salissou.

On this occasion, a large delegation went to the center to visit the admitted patients and celebrate this day with them. “Since the event of July 26, 2023, we have said to ourselves wherever there is a woman who has a single problem, we are going to be at her side. On March 8, 2024, we were in a rural town to bring a donation consisting of products such as bleach, liquid soap, cologne, because these are necessary products in the lives of our sisters. If there is a possibility of taking days to come and train them on how to make this soap so that they can be independent, we will not hesitate for a single moment to do so. The refoundation would like all women to learn a profession so that they can contribute to the development of the country and we are committed to the refoundation of this country,” confided the coordinator of Women Engaged, Ms. Abdou Mariatou.

For his part, the deputy director of the National Reference Center for Obstetric Fistulas, Colonel Major Oumarou Salissou, stressed that this action comes at the right time insofar as it will help to relieve the women beneficiaries. “In fact, Committed Women came today to the national reference center for obstetric fistulas because they are convinced that the women who are here are women who need help. What they brought is symbolic, but it is deeply appreciated by the center staff and patients,” he added.

Furthermore, Colonel Major Oumarou Salissou stressed that the women who are in the center have no other options. “The support that women provide to their sisters who are victims of fistula is also a plus for us because we find the consideration of the center in it,” he concluded.
