THE olympiads of this Monday, May 13 in the evening will have at least confirmed one thing: the Cortenais know (and like) to have fun.

Already in October 2021, those organized as part of the 40th anniversary of the university had a “full stadium” and attracted hundreds of people to the lawn of Santos-Manfredi. Reiterated success this week, with Olymp’in Cortiproposed by the town hall and the university, on the sidelines of the passage of the Olympic flame.

Thirty teams and twenty activities, sport and fun, large inflatable and colorful things, regressive to let off steam and compete while laughing, around a sumo fight or at the heart of a human table football. A tug of war, a Puissance 4 basketball hoop version, a climbing wall or a sack race… And all over the field, a atmospherea little schoolboy and frankly light, screams and laughter, an opportunity to get together and have fun.

“Why not in September, for the sports festival?”

The event did not a priori not intended to repeat itself. “It could still be nice.”, smiles Jean-François Filippi, president of Inter Cortenais basketball. Like most members of the city’s associative network, he has put on a t-shirt marked “volunteer” and monitors the teams that follow one another in front of his activity: “All the sports associations played the gamehe continues. For the atmosphere and for the state of mind, I would find it interesting if such an event became recurring.” He even has an idea of the date: Why not in September, at the time of the sports festival? It could start or end a season.”

Jeanne-Marie agrees: “I saw young people at the stadium who usually never play sports. An event like this would move them, it would mix generations and social classes. Without that, people don’t talk to each other .” In the same vein, the Cortenaise would see “the course becomes pedestrian a little more often”. She illustrates her point by reviving the memory of the snowfall of 2017: “Everyone was in the street, people were talking…”

Bringing generations and populations together was one of the objectives of Olymp’in Corti: “Goal achieved, applauds Mayor Xavier Poli. We wanted a party for everyone and that’s what we got.”

From there to perpetuate it in the Corten calendar? “I’m thinking about it.”
