The Pau public prosecutor’s office requested the placement in pre-trial detention of three of the seven people involved in the attack.

A crucial legal step has just been taken in the case of the soldier of the 35th RAP (Parachutist Artillery Regiment) from Tarbes who was stabbed on Wednesday, May 8, in the early morning, in the Arsenal district.

Contacted by us, the public prosecutor of Pau Rodolphe Jarry confirms that “a judicial investigation was opened this Wednesday morning at the Pau investigation center against seven people for acts of attempted murder against three individuals, and for aggravated violence against four individuals.

The Pau public prosecutor’s office requested the placement in pre-trial detention of the three people prosecuted for attempted murder, and the placement under judicial supervision for the four other individuals suspected of having committed aggravated violence.

Four wounds and 15 days of total incapacity for work for the victim

Furthermore, the public prosecutor of Pau specifies the dates and facts of this violent knife attack: “On Wednesday May 8 at 4:45 a.m., several soldiers left the “RG Room” nightclub located in Tarbes, and were confronted to individuals damaging the facade of a store.

The military intervened to stop this damage. A fight ensued. During this, several blows were struck.

One of the soldiers received stab wounds, particularly to the chest and abdomen. The medical examination of the victim notably revealed four wounds, in addition to erosions on the face. 15 days of total incapacity for work were noted.

Just after these events, the attackers left the scene. In police custody, one of the defendants admitted to having stabbed him.

Rodolphe Jarry also indicates that “the judicial information must make it possible to determine the role played by each accused in the unfolding of the facts, as well as their exact degree of participation”. As a reminder, the vital prognosis of the victim, medically treated on site and evacuated in serious condition to the Tarbes hospital center, is not in jeopardy. At the time of the events, the attacked soldier was off duty and it seems that the defendants were unaware of his duties.
