Mentioned for years by Mathieu Kassovitz himself, the musical comedy La Haine, from its full title Hate – So far nothing has changedis finally revealed in theaters, with nine first Parisian performances from October 10 to 20 at the Seine musicale (Boulogne-Billancourt). Subsequently, the play will be exported to all the largest cities in , with programming currently planned until June 2025. La Haine, masterpiece of French cinema

A true classic of the big screen, the film Hatereleased in 1995, has rocked several generations, spanning time as few feature films have done. Timeless, both at the level of language – Mathieu Kassovitz recently explained his desire not to include slang, in the film as in the new play, in order to guarantee this longevity – and at the level of the societal reality shown, the film has not aged and still remains as relevant, even impactful, in 2024. Retracing an entire day in the shoes of Vinz (Vincent Cassel), Hubert (Hubert Koundé) and Saïd (Saïd Taghmaoui) and using as a backdrop the tours of the La Noé district of Chanteloup-les-Vignes, the film is now ”part of French culture”as the director has already stated many times.

Before going to see the musical, which will not really be a sequel but a theatrical and musical remake with hip-hop and rap as a driving force, it may be interesting to rewatch (or even discover) the cult film from 1995 .
