THE club of soccer of AS Treatments (Sarthe) is grief. Her president, Didier Mallet68 years old, is deceased prematurely.

Sudden disappearance

The information did not leave many people indifferent in the microcosm of Sarthe football during the Ascension Bridge: Conlinois Didier Mallet, at the head of AS Cures for 9 years and licensed to AS Cures since his creation, left on the evening of May 8. Renowned for its conviviality and family spirit, this football club which operates without agreement or merger celebrated its half-century of existence at the stadium in August 2021 with great fanfare. » Obviously, we are all sad. This sudden disappearance will leave a big void. Football is sacred in Cures. Didier, with whom we got along very well, lived a large part of his life in Cures. He honored all roles at the club: player, manager, vice-president, president… “, confides Dominique Amiard, the mayor of Cures.

A historical figure

Didier had only one daughter, Bénédicte, who volunteered for several years as secretary of the sports association before migrating to horizons other than Sarthe for professional reasons. » Football in the small villages of France is fragile. With the support of the municipality, Didier worked hard to ensure that the club overcame all the obstacles that could have led, like other clubs in our region, to being dormant. He is a historic and much-loved figure at the club who is leaving far too soon. He came to the stadium, his second home, every Sunday. Football was in his blood. He was a bon vivant,” says a member of the office.

Another point to know: upon his election at the head of this Champagne Conlinoise club which has engaged up to 3 senior teams (2020-2021 season), he had set a priority: to comply with the status of the arbitration to avoid financial and/or sporting sanctions from the Sarthe District authorities. What was accomplished under his “mandate” with two young candidates who passed their exam to take the whistle on Sunday (Quentin Mahé then Jayson Rioul). The excitement around the 7-a-side football section on Friday evenings made Didier proud.

A moving thought this Sunday

There is no doubt that a moving thought will be sent to him by his players during the final meeting of this 2023-2024 season, in this case before kick-off this Sunday, May 19 at the Cures stadium against Le Mans Mayotte (3 p.m. ). His funeral will be held at the Hunaudières crematorium in Ruaudin on May 18 (12:45 p.m.). The Alpes Mancelles editorial staff presents its most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.

The different presidents of AS Cures since its birth in 1971: Eugène Leguy (1971 to 1977), Julien Mallet (1977 to 1997, father of Didier), Louis Vovard (1997 to 2015, current honorary president) and Didier Mallet (2015 to today).
