What we know about the imminent government reshuffle

A government reshuffle is planned in the coming days. Although major upheavals are ruled out, some adjustments will be made in certain ministerial departments.

Aziz Akhannouch confirmed this to the press a few days ago. A mid-term reshuffle is indeed planned. According to our information, the Akhannouch II cabinet will be formed very soon.

One of the prerequisites for the reshuffle was the composition of the new leadership teams of the majority member parties. With the election of a triumvirate at the head of its collective leadership, the PAM has fulfilled this condition. For its part, Istiqlal re-elected Nizar Baraka as head of the historic party, but has not yet finalized the formation of its executive committee. However, this should not hinder the reshuffle.

The proposals concerning the new ministers and the new government architecture were submitted by the Head of Government, according to information from Challenge.ma. However, we should not expect major changes, as they will mainly involve adjustments at the level of certain ministerial departments. Overloaded ministerial portfolios are expected to be divided into several departments to ease the burden on some ministers, while other ministers will be given more prerogatives.

Some ministers are also expected to leave office due to lack of competence or poor communication.

Remember that the current government is the result of the legislative elections which took place in September 2021. After the victory of the RNI in this election, its president, Aziz Akhannouch, formed a coalition with the PAM and Istiqlal, respectively coming second and third. in the elections. Note that in addition to the Head of Government, the current cabinet has 24 ministers, including 5 delegate ministers.
