Two prison officers were killed, and three others seriously injured, Tuesday May 14 during the attack on a van near the Incarville tollbooth (Eure) on the A154 motorway. May Saint Adrian of Nicomedia, patron saint of prison guards, intercede for them.

A heinous murderous attack. This Tuesday, May 14, around 11 a.m., a prison van was attacked with ramming by several individuals armed with shotguns at the Incarville tollbooth, in Eure. Coming from the Rouen judicial court, it went to Évreux prison and transported a repeat criminal, Mohamed Amra, convicted by the Évreux court for burglary. The individual was also indicted for kidnapping and sequestration. He managed to escape with the attackers.

In this particularly violent attack, two prison officers died, hit by heavy weapon fire. One was married and the father of two children in their twenties while the other was preparing to become a father, leaving a wife five months pregnant. Three other officers were injured. At this time, the vital prognosis of one of the three injured agents is still in jeopardy. The other two are hospitalized in “relative emergency”. Christians can unite their prayer and entrust the victims and their families to Saint Adrian of Nicomedia, patron saint of prison guards. This 4th century martyr, persecutor then persecuted, married, will undoubtedly lend an attentive ear to the victims of this tragedy. Roman officer in charge of the tortures reserved for Christians following the edict of Diocletian in 303, Adrian converted and in turn suffered torture in Nicomedia (currently Izmit in Turkey). Aleteia suggests turning to the boss of prison guards with this prayer:

Saint Adrian of Nicomedia,

You who are the patron saint of prison guards, watch over the victims of today’s attack. Relieve the pain of those who suffer, lead those who have left us to the Father and comfort their loved ones in affliction.

You who were a faithful husband, support their wife in this ordeal and bring them the comfort they need. Give them the strength to get up and be present to their children.

You who died as a martyr, maintaining unshakeable trust in the Lord until the end, bring hope and peace to the victims of this tragedy. Intercede with God so that they discover the living force of his love for all men.
