The head of government has just put in place intervention mechanisms to straighten out the production chains of milk, meat, olive oil and fruits and vegetables. The ultimate objective is to preserve the means of production while ensuring adequate supply to the markets and playing on the balance between supply and demand to lower prices.
According to the daily Assabahwhich reports the information in its weekend edition of October 12 and 13, this was the subject of a meeting, chaired Thursday by Aziz Akhannouch, with stakeholders from the agricultural production sectors.
According to a press release from the head of government’s services, professionals in the sector presented priority measures intended to promote the agricultural sector and guarantee market supplies, in preparation for the launch of the 2024-2025 agricultural campaign. . An agricultural year which comes after five consecutive years of drought, having impacted all components of the sector, specifies the daily. These measures concern the protection and reconstitution of animal heritage and the strengthening of the resilience of the agricultural sector.
The meeting continues Assabahwas an opportunity to examine the different mechanisms capable of contributing to achieving the expected balance in the animal sectors. The plant sectors – olive, citrus, date palm, legumes, early vegetables, sugar, rice, seeds and cereals – are also concerned.
Through these measures, the daily underlines, the government intends to strengthen its support for professionals in the various agricultural sectors, with a view to improving their performance on the basis of optimal management of inputs and production factors.
The Executive is also committed to continuing the mobilization of structuring investments aimed at strengthening the capacity of the agricultural sector to adapt to the repercussions of the drought and to taking a series of measures capable of gradually restoring the balance of productive sectors.
The government will also ensure, notes the daily, to monitor the implementation of the various urgent measures, capable of contributing to the fall in the prices of agricultural products, in order to preserve the purchasing power of citizens, while as it will ensure the continuous and sufficient supply of national markets.
Assabah recalls, finally, that the Akhannouch government signed in 2023, a set of 19 new generation program contracts for the development and modernization of agricultural production sectors. These contracts require a total investment of more than 110 billion dirhams over 10 years, including more than 42 billion dirhams in the form of State contribution under the Agricultural Development Fund.
