After the attempted violent robbery in the city center of , passers-by and nearby businesses are still in shock. This new event once again shows the climate of ultra-violence which reigns in the capital of the Alps.

After a summer marked by numerous shootings and settling of scores between drug traffickers, Grenoble was the scene this Thursday of a violent robbery attempt in the city center at around 10 a.m.

Criminals tried to block a cash-in-transit van and seize the seven million euros it contained. They did not succeed thanks to the resistance of the conveyors who responded with their weapons and who managed to flee in the direction of the gendarmerie. This attack with weapons of war, in broad daylight, under the eyes of passers-by and near businesses, once again shows the climate of ultra-violence which reigns in Grenoble.

“At the moment, in Grenoble, it’s shooting everywhere”

Stéphane is the manager of the pizzeria located right next to the intersection where the van attack took place. On its facade, we can see a bullet hole. “And it could have been dramatic if I had been setting up my terrace. And shifted by 50 centimeters, we could have had injuries or deaths. Today, we realize that they really heavy weapons. And we say to ourselves: ‘But where are we?’ And it’s scary,” he regrets.

An even stronger feeling for Sandra who comes to work in the city center every day. “At the moment, in Grenoble, there’s shooting everywhere. It’s actually war in Grenoble! We can no longer go out in peace. I work right next door, I take transport… I tell myself that if I go just pick something up at the bakery or pharmacy, I might get shot,” she explains with fear.

This cannot continue, believes Clément Chappet, spokesperson for a collective which wants work-study in Grenoble. “It’s a scene from the Wild West. And opposite, we have a municipality that does nothing. Eric Piolle remains in denial, whatever the facts. He refuses to arm his municipal police because he explains that “She is not there to protect the population after a while, with all this accumulation of violent events, we have the feeling that Grenoble is exploding from all sides”, regrets. -he. Heavily armed with Kalashnikovs and weapons of war, the criminals are currently still on the run.
