Against Stade Rennais, the operation was not as good as it seemed for the Sang et Or. Joined by Olympique Lyonnais, RC Lens will have to fight until the end to maintain their 6th place in Ligue 1, synonymous with Europe. On the sidelines of this final day of Ligue 1 which is approaching, the Artesian leaders have already started the recruitment race.

Less celebrating than last year, RC Lens experienced ups and downs during the 2023-2024 episode of Ligue 1. However, Franck Haise’s players are once again subject to validating a new qualification European for next season. Very close to victory against Stade Rennais last weekend, the Lensois finally cracked in the last minutes of the match and conceded the draw. At the same time, Olympique Lyonnais won on the Clermont pitch and came back level with RC Lens in the Ligue 1 standings. What’s more, Olympique de Marseille, who have a match in hand, have opportunity to return to the Sang et Or this Wednesday during his trip to Reims. Still 6th on goal difference, the RCL will have to win against Montpellier in Bollaert next weekend during the final day of the championship to avoid being demoted to 7th in the ranking, potentially non-qualifying for the European Cup. In addition to the sporting issues of the moment, the Lens management is gradually immersing itself in the preparation of its summer transfer window which is coming quickly. On the transfer market, the start has already been given in Lens.

A first arrival already completed this week?

Obviously, RC Lens will have wasted no time in preparing for next season. After the arrival of Hervé Koffiformer Charleroi goalkeeper, a new face is about to see the light of day in Franck Haise’s squad in the person of Sidi Bane. Our colleagues from Foot Mercato argue that Bate central defender Borisov is preparing to join the Sang et Or by the end of the week. The young 20-year-old Senegalese nugget is a real gamble attempted for the future by the Lensois leaders. A still inexperienced but promising recruit who should mark the start of a long series of arrivals in Lens.

Other names come back insistently in RC Lens’ plans for the coming summer. This is particularly the case for Rafik Guitane (Estoril), Alex Daho (Sochaux), Carlos Teran (Chicago) and Abdoulaye Kanté (Troyes) for whom discussions have started.
