Prison vans attacked in the Eure: what is the Épervier plan triggered by the gendarmerie?

This Tuesday, May 14 in Eure, two prison vans ensuring the transfer of an inmate were the target of a group of attackers. The Épervier plan was launched to track down the fugitives, responsible for the deaths of at least two agents.

At least two officers are dead, while one detainee is on the run. While two prison vans were the target of an attack this Tuesday, May 14, the Épervier plan was triggered.

Launched following a kidnapping or escape of one or more people, this operation is directed by the command of the Eure gendarmerie group. Allowing the different command levels of the gendarmerie to be put on alert, it ensures the mobilization of units on the ground.

Dam installation and patrols

The objective: to grid and partition a perimeter in order to ensure the location and apprehension of the fugitive. The numbers and resources vary depending on the circumstances. The installation of roadblocks and the mobilization of patrols are essential. Helicopters and dog brigades can also support searches.

For now, the detainee and the attackers of the van are still on the run. According to our colleagues at BFMTV200 gendarmes, a helicopter and more than twenty members of the GIGN track down the fugitives.
