“The inflationary crisis is behind us”, according to the bosses of the mass distribution sector. Really ?

The liter of diesel still peaks at €1.65 this Tuesday in the Pyrénées-Orientales. Unleaded 95, for its part, exceeds €1.8. But for the bosses of mass distribution, “the inflationary crisis is behind us”.

“Of consumption”

However, another clue proves that the French have not regained their “previous” standard of living: “The number of products purchased fell by another 2% year-on-year”, indicates BFM TV. At the microphone, Dominique Schelcher, boss of Système U, confirms the phenomenon of “of consumption”. Environment, inflation, desire to consume differently: since 2010, the reasons have been multiple.

But today, very specific products suffer from this phenomenon. At the head of the gondola, non-food such as “Garden furniture has been completely ignored this year. Textiles are the same, shorts we’re going to keep for one more season. Then there are beauty products which have become very expensive. Beyond 3 euros, the products sell less.

On the food side, the main victim: meat. As compensation, the butchery departments “exploded” during Ascension weekend.
