LThe firefighters of the Dinaphi zone (Dinant/Philippeville) carried out around forty interventions during the night from Wednesday to Thursday, throughout the district, following the passage of the Kirk depression, indicates the spokesperson from the Patrice Liétart area. The latter announced in the morning that the emergency plan had been relaunched in Couvin for the evacuation of 3 people and 7 dogs.
This evacuation to the “Les Chenaux” campsite must be carried out by an army helicopter, as the firefighters are unable to pick them up, specifies the spokesperson.
The night’s interventions concerned flooded roads and cellars, falling trees and rubble on the roads, particularly in the towns of Couvin, Yvoir and Rochefort.
In Couvin, an emergency and intervention plan at municipal level was triggered for the first time at around 10 p.m. A small stream which flows near the center of Couvin has overflowed. The City’s technical service and emergency services attended the scene. Around twenty people residing at the “Le Caillou d’Eau” campsite were evacuated by swift water rescue teams. This municipal emergency plan was able to be lifted during the night but the center of Couvin was still under water at the start of the morning.
