Did you know ? Passionate about genre cinema, Saïd Belktibia was looking for an idea for my first feature film that was both sincere and unique. Orphaned by his father, the filmmaker had a turbulent childhood. Convinced that he was possessed by a jinn (a demon), his mother would sit on the living room sofa and melt tin over a basin of water, muttering incantations. He remembers :

“I didn’t understand it at the time but she practiced witchcraft to try to keep evil away from me… I also wanted to continue to explore the theme of violence caused by the internet and social networks initiated in my short film Ghettotube (2015) With my co-writer Louis Penicaut, we very quickly came up with the idea of ​​a modernized witch hunt.”

The Strangers (2008) grossed $83 million via its theatrical release. A very nice score for a film that cost 9 million dollars. Its sequel, The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018) was produced for $5 million and grossed $32.

“At best, 120 people worked on it, but this number varied greatly since some left once their work was finished. The film was made 100% in Hungary, in the Cinemon Entertainment studio.”
