Several hours were needed by the firefighters mobilized to contain a violent apartment fire, on the top floor of a small building on rue du Faubourd Sainte Anne. The intervention began shortly after 2:30 p.m. this Sunday, May 12, while a spread to the adjoining apartment was in progress, and required the use of 3 fire hoses, 61 firefighters and 29 vehicles. The first 70m2 apartment was completely destroyed, and the second had roof damage. 5 victims with slight smoke poisoning were treated, including a 72-year-old man who was transported in mild condition to the Saint-Nazaire Hospital Center. 12 people in total will be rehoused by their loved ones, and 2 by the town hall. The Ciné Presqu’île cinema located near the disaster also had to be evacuated (200 people) due to the smell of smoke inside.
