, analyzes senior colonel Christophe Frerson, head of the fire brigade and director of Sdis (departmental fire and rescue service) of Sarthe. Since 2021, the department has had a video surveillance system to fight against forest fires. It is the only one in Pays de la Loire.
Each year, in an area like Sarthe, we carry out more than 33,000 interventions. Around 28,000 concern personal assistance; 2,500 fires and fire outbreaks, that’s an average of seven to eight fires per day.
