The match: 1-3

It was, in theory, a thrill-inducing evening. A twelfth French champion title to celebrate, the departure of Kylian Mbappé to celebrate: there was no shortage of reasons to have a good evening at the Parc des Princes for Parisian supporters. The quick goal from their number 7 initially suggested that the match would confirm these expectations. But the PSG second team, lacking intensity and automatisms, finally conceded a logical defeat against TFC, despite a reaction after the break.

Kylian Mbappé therefore did not leave the Parc des Princes with a success, even if the Parisian striker scored quickly from the left, after validation of the VAR, following a long opening from Arnau Tenas at the extreme limit offside (1-0, 8th). Toulouse equalized just as quickly through its Dutch striker Thijs Dallinga, with a shot from the left (13th).

In the process, TFC put its paw on the match, dominating Luis Enrique’s men in midfield, lacking movement and rhythm in their garden. Even if Carlos Soler, with a nice reversal, found Marco Asensio, author of perfect control and a shot into the side net (26th), the Parisian half-time did not really amaze the crowds.

After the break, it was again the former Real player, served by Mbappé, who proved dangerous, sending a shot deflected by Logan Costa, very close to an own goal (49th). More in control, PSG got closer to 2-1 when a cross from Kang-in Lee found Asensio’s head, at point blank range, but just wide (55th)! A huge miss followed by a right shot curled by Mbappé just to the right of the Toulouse goal (58th).

The entry of Ousmane Dembélé, author of a shot without an angle (66th), accompanied this momentum. Danilo’s deviation almost made it happen (67th). But the light finally burst from the feet of a Toulouse player, Yann Gboho, whose curling shot from the right, facilitated by the poor opposing defense, deceived Tenas (1-2, 68th)!

More realistically, the Violets resisted this very average PSG until the end, which thus conceded its second defeat in the Championship in 2023-2024. A success crowned at the end of added time by a third goal, from Frank Magri (1-3, 90th +4), which confirms the very good second half of the season for TFC, at the same time as it deprives Kylian Mbappé of a final outing at the Parc des Princes crowned with a victory. But this PSG probably didn’t deserve better.

Toulouse has just scored a 4th away success in a row in the same season in the elite for the first time in its history.

The player: Mbappé scorer in vain

His match was in the tone of his second part of the season, since the announcement of his departure leaked. His performance lacked relief in the end, even if he scored his 256th goal in 307 matches with PSG, thus enlarging his statistical mark in the history of the club. His curling shot from the right, just to the right of the Toulouse goal, would perhaps have changed the face of the match (58th).
