Aveyron: the car catches fire while the family is on the road, their vehicle destroyed, the parents launch an online fundraiser

The car of a family living in Aveyron suddenly caught fire while the father, mother and their three children were on the road.

A couple from Aveyron were victims of a mishap on Thursday May 9, Ascension Day. That day, these parents and their three children aged 11 years, 4 years and 13 months, decided to take advantage of the public holiday to go for a walk in the Lot.

The family had gone for a walk

While the family had been on the road since 1:30 am and was on the RD 840, between Rudelle and Thémines, “my car suddenly caught fire”, reports the mother.

And continues: “Luckily, the centralization worked and all five of us were able to get out of the car.” Unharmed, they managed to “recover most” of their belongings thanks to the help of a gentleman.

The car caught fire and was completely destroyed.

“In a few minutes, the car was completely engulfed in flames,” continues the mother, who decided to launch an online fundraiser. “Living in the countryside in a small village in Aveyron, we need a family car because there are five of us.”

No insurance coverage

“I am a stay-at-home mom and we live on one salary. We cannot afford to renew a loan since we already have one in progress on this vehicle. The money would be used to finance a new one,” explains -She. “My insurance will not compensate me because we are insured at the minimum. And that is not taken into account.”
