The City of Casablanca provides citizens with a weekly bulletin of wholesale prices of meats, fruits and vegetables most demanded on the markets. THE prix are provided for information purposes only and may vary depending on the quality of the product and its origin. Please note that these prices are only valid for the wholesale market and not for retailers.

Vegetables: moderate increases and decreases

The vegetable market revealed contrasting movements. On the one hand, the tomatoesoften considered a key market indicator, saw their price drop slightly, from MAD 5.00 to MAD 4.70 per kilogram. This decrease, although modest, could offer some relief to wholesalers and retailers. Conversely, other vegetables recorded a slight increase. This is the case of carrotsthe price of which rose from 3.30 DH to 3.50 DH per kilogram, and especially eggplantwhich experienced a notable increase from 3.50 DH to 4.00 DH per kilogram. However, certain vegetables such as potatoes and the courgettes did not show any price variation, remaining stable at 2.80 DH and 5.00 DH per kilogram respectively. These fluctuations could be explained by seasonal variations in supply and demand, as well as climatic factors influencing agricultural production.

Fruits: general stability, except for avocados

The fruit marketfor its part, presented a rather stable image, like the bananas (7.00 DH/kg) and grenades (10.00 DH/kg), which could reflect stability in supply. However, the lawyersanother key product, recorded a significant drop, going from 20.00 DH to 18.00 DH per kilogram. This decrease could be linked to an increase in supply on the market.

Meat: significant increase for sheep meat

THE meat pricefor their part, display divergent trends depending on the type. There viande bovinealthough relatively stable, experienced a slight drop in its maximum price, from 95 DH to 94 DH per kilogram, while the minimum price remained constant at 92 DH. There viande ovineon the other hand, saw its prices soar, with a significant increase. The maximum price increased from 115 DH to 120 DH, and the minimum price from 110 DH to 118 DH. This increase could be attributed to tighter supply or rising production costs, which are reflected in sales prices.
