ANALYSIS – The penitential progressivism that has taken control of American campuses and institutions is producing backfires among black intellectuals and pushing a portion of the African-American vote toward Trump.

The screams of American students who, wrapped in Palestinian keffiyehs, scream their hatred of Israel and block the access of their Jewish comrades to American campuses did not come out of nowhere. They represent the latest illustration of the obsessive racialist and decolonialist ideology that has taken control of American universities, marginalizing all dissident thought. A caricatured ideology which depicts a binary world shared between “oppressors” – white, Western, Israeli, and ultimately Jewish – and “oppressed”, a category which brings together all minorities “in struggle” and as such embraces the Palestinians, even when they embody Hamas’s terrorist approach.

From this point of view, the chaos that has gripped Columbia and so many other campuses is born from the womb of a penitential progressivism that advocates the fight “against white supremacy” supposedly lodged in the heads of all white people forever. A…
