“I think we broke records”

IThere was a crowd this Thursday for the traditional Bergères Plant Day. From 10 a.m. and under bright sunshine, visitors, who had come in large numbers, were already wandering among the numerous stands. “It’s crazy, I think we broke records,” shares Florence Petit, mayor, delighted to see such a large number of people in Bergères. As a reminder, around 10,000 visitors were expected.

Artisans, nurseries, horticulturists… In total, more than 160 exhibitors were present, including many from Aubois but also around thirty coming from all over France (Isère, North, West of France, etc.). Like this nurseryman from Alsace who offers vine plants. “I’ve been here for over 20 years”, he shares. Subsequently, the streets of the village quickly filled up and remained full with the arrival of Marine Le Pen.

Subscription to the Heritage Foundation

Last year, the town of Bergères took advantage of the event to launch a subscription in favor of the restoration and security of a set of statues from the Saint-Étienne church. “Five works in wood and polychrome limestone dating from the 14the in the 19th centurye century, listed as Historic Monuments”, specifies the Heritage Foundation, which was present yesterday. To date, €7,214 has been raised from 40 donors, out of the goal of €10,000*. Donations are always open.
