VIDEO – Torrential rains in southern Brazil led to a surprising scene this Wednesday, May 8. A horse in distress found itself stuck on the roof of a building.

A horse was found stranded on a roof in a flooded area in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, this Wednesday, May 8. Aerial footage captured by a TV Globo drone showed the animal standing on the roof of a building submerged in water. It is impossible to know at this time if the horse escaped.

Heavy rains that began last week caused rivers to flood, flooding entire towns and destroying roads and bridges. The death toll from unprecedented floods in southern Brazil reached 100 deaths on Wednesday.

According to the forecast, rain is still expected from Friday to Sunday. The Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, deplored in a press release the loss of human lives in Brazil and stressed that disasters of this kind constitute a “reminder of the devastating effects of the climate crisis”.
