Science fiction is one of the public’s favorite cinema genres (Aliens, Star Wars, Star Trek, Blade Runner, Dune…). And among the most important franchises of recent years, we find one with a certain Vin Diesel. His title ? Riddick. And despite the flops of these films, the saga will soon have the right to a sequel.
It’s not just when it comes to clothing style that Vin Diesel is lazy and unoriginal. We have just learned that the next big project from the man with the tank tops (or sleeveless shirts) will not see him venture into a new universe.
Vin Diesel finds a cult role
So, after already 11 films Fast and Furious where he plays tuning kéké, 8 Marvel projects in which he is content to repeat the same word or even 3 films XXX which allows him to defy the laws of physics and logic, the actor is preparing to return to another important franchise in his filmography: Riddick.
After years of gestation, the film Riddick Furya – which will be the fourth episode of the science fiction saga (or the 5th if you count a bonus animated film), will officially enter production this year. According to the Hollywood Reporter, filming is scheduled to begin on August 26, 2024 with shooting planned in Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
On the program this time? This sequel will see Riddick finally return home, a world he barely remembers and fears destroyed. There, he will meet new Furyans who are fighting to survive against a new monster. Furyans who, he will discover, are more like him than he would have imagined.
