A serious incident occurred this morning at Blaise Diagne International Airport in Diass involving a Transir plane, which left the runway causing material damage and several injuries.

A Transair Boeing 737 was involved in a serious accident at Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) during the night of Wednesday May 8 to Thursday May 9. Despite the seriousness of the event, the results show less dramatic consequences than feared.

According to additional information, the plane was leaving for Mali when the incident occurred. Following technical problems with the gas-hydraulic system, the plane had to turn back shortly after takeoff. “He took off for a second time and at a height of 35 meters the left wing caught fire”, security sources reported. Following this, the aircraft crashed near the presidential pavilion.

Fortunately, all 73 passengers on board survived the incident without major damage, although one pilot suffered minor injuries. Images of the accident circulated on social media, showing emergency services responding quickly to secure the scene and take care of those involved.

Footage of the incident shows emergency workers working around the plane, and several injuries have been reported following the crash.
