The UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia UAE), under the auspices of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, has announced an extension of the application deadline for the 4th cycle of the Global Water Prize. water Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, endowment of one million dollars in total. This prize aims to find sustainable and innovative solutions to address water shortages in the world. Companies, research and development centers, research institutes, innovators and young people from around the world who wish to participate in the award can complete and submit their application until May 31, 2024. The award aims to encourage the development of innovative projects, technologies and prototypes in the field of desalination and water purification using renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, biomass, hydroelectric, osmotic and gothermal.

This award reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, to meet the challenges of water shortage. The award aims to find sustainable solutions that ensure the availability of fresh water for impoverished and affected communities around the world and for the most affected groups. This promotes a better future for future generations. The prize also aims to support goal 6 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, namely drinking water and sanitation for all. Thus, innovation and investment in the latest technologies make it possible to achieve this objective in order to help the least developed societies achieve sustainable development.

Over the past three cycles of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum World Water Prize, we have awarded 31 winners from 22 countries. The prize has four main categories: the innovative projects prize, which includes the large projects prize and the small projects prize; the Innovative Research and Development Award, which includes the National Institutions Award and the International Institutions Award; the innovative individual prize, which includes the distinguished research prize and the youth prize; and the price of innovative solutions in the event of a crisis.
